Beethoven's Birthday Boogie is a tribute to one of the most brilliant composers in music history, whose 250th birthday the music world celebrated in 2020. This piano piece integrates several themes from Beethoven's 5th and 9th Symphonies, presented in a boogie-woogie style. It begins with what is arguably the most famous four-note motif in classical music, the musical symbol of Beethoven. This is immediately followed by the "Ode to Joy" theme, this time in ternary rhythm, accompanied by a playful boogie-woogie figure, and after another musical quotation, transitions into a brilliant cadenza. Following its half cadence on the dominant, the famous "Happy Birthday" melody is played in Beethoven's signature style, and the piece concludes with two typical jazz chords.
