This new edition contains a full page Preface in German and English and a specification of the choir organ oft he Augustine Court Church (1728) as an example of the instrument this music may have been played on. Gottlieb Muffat was the youngest son of the more famous Georg Muffat. Most of his organ works have never been published. These short pieces were used to fill gaps during the liturgy and vary in length from 10 to 52 bars. One common feature is the series of semibreve chords often lasting several bars which are to be arpeggiated and no doubt embellished at the players discretion. (…) (Rainer Goede, www.kirchmusik.de, Nov. 2010)
